Another
year has slipped by since our last newsletter but it has been a very busy and
productive year. The iron and manganese facilities are in full operation. The
master plan has been completed and approved for Lower Chenowith and Columbia Crest
intertie project. Funding is now being applied for to complete this project. The
back parking lot has been paved, security fence installed and the interior grounds
landscaped and sodded and most of this work was done by staff and volunteers.
We hope that you will note these improvements at our open-house on Sept.28, 2004.
The Fleck well experienced a collapse below the well casing which shut that system
down. With the quick action of the staff and cooperation of the patrons, the well
was back in full operation within a 24 hr. period.
This
has been exciting year for our new manager, Mrs. Sherlene Bowen. Not only for
the emergencies that have occurred but also the recognition that she has received.
She received a certificate of recognition from Special Districts Association of
Oregon (SDAO) for her significant contributions to the successful operation of
the water district this past year. Special Districts Association of Oregon provides
insurance and legal support to many agencies in Oregon, including fire departments,
city municipalities, port districts, etc. She was also selected for the "Manager
of the Year" award by Oregon Association of Water Utilities (OAWU) which
is the working nuts and bolts of water and sewer systems throughout Oregon consisting
of 150 memberships. Congratulations, Mrs. Bowen, for an outstanding first year
as manager of Chenowith Water PUD. We have received numerous positive comments
from patrons about our staff and we appreciate that. We as a board, welcome any
comments both positive and negative and/or suggestions that you may have. The
board of directors meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30
pm in the office conference room. Hope to see you at the open house!!
Tom Ashmore, President
